Hello --

Saw an article yesterday I thought was worth posting:

Quoth:
"In [the latest Linux Foundation's report], the Foundation analyzed
how many lines of code are actually in Red Hat's community Fedora 9
Linux distribution, and how much it would cost, in today's dollars,
with today's software development costs, to have written it as a
proprietary operating system."

They reckon Fedora 9 to have 204,500,946 physical lines of source code
(not just the kernel). The total cost of development if t'were
proprietary? A mere $10,784,484,309 (~£6.6 billion).

Not bad for something one can nab from the web for free.
