[Deaf-lug] Web Cam on Ubuntu 8.10

What webcam is it?

If your camera use the GPCSA (not sure of the spelling) - a recent update
broke that...think it's a kernel update that caused it rather than something
in Ubuntu - but there should be a new version that fix it but not yet in the
updates - so suggest that you go to Software Sources in the System menu, and
go to the Updates tab.

In there, tick the boxes for Proposed updates (and perhaps Unsupported
updates - I have this ticked on mine but I'm happy to fix if things break -
although never happened for me...yet!) - and then update.

Check for updates...if there's a fix in one of them, it'll get included and
hopefully one of them is for your camera.

But it does help if I have the model of your camera.

For example, I have a new Sony SZ laptop and the MotionEye camera is a Ricoh
model, and the driver is R5u870 - however the maintainer have stated that
the driver is broken for the 2.6.26+ kernels (and since 8.10 is using 2.6.27
that's me out of luck until it's fixed)
