[Deaf-lug] Web Cam on Ubuntu 8.10

I have a logitech Quickcam Pro 3000 (or 4000) not sure which. Not sure
how to check it.
However the webcam works with Motion, but not with Ekiga, or xawtv or
anything else!!!!
Which I find strange!!!
