Congratulations about Guild Wars.


Once you have configured your kernel and compiled it, you just need to 'make
install' which will backup your previous kernel as /boot/vmlinuz.old and
your new kernel as /boot/vmlinuz.

If you then have your bootloader set up to load either of these all the time
you wont need to edit it and will be able to use the older kernel if you
messed up.

You may also need to rebuild some modules, such as proprietary graphics
drivers after you've done this.

Once you've gone through configuring and compiling the kernel there isn't
much to worry about though, if it all falls apart just go back to your old
kernel and try again.
