I'm not entirely sure if I understand the use cases for these MID
devices.  Don't get me wrong I think they're pretty neat, but for me
they seem too small to be useful.  They're too big to be a phone, yet
too small to comfortably type on.  I'd imagine that the UMPC (e.g. the
EEE PC) form factor will pretty much prevent mainstream adoption of
these devices.
