I know it's a daft one but have you checked the md5sum to make sure your ISO isn't corrupt in any way.
If you want to stay with Slackware I'd recommend Vector linux.
Cheers

Subject: [dundee] Slax
I have recently been playing around with Slax (mainly out of boredom)
and am quite enjoying it. However I'm having issues with booting I can't
find solutions to anywhere online (maybe I've lost my searching skills,
I'll keep looking)
Almost all the time when I'm booting, on both my PC and laptop, from a
brand new USB 2.0 flash drive (formatted as FAT32, EXT3, XFS at various
points in time, just in case) it hangs for a long time, sometimes up to
about 5 minutes on "triggering udev events: /sbin/udevtrigger" The only
help I can find is on significantly older machines, often not even as
severe as my issue. Everything about the OS is as standard so far
including the kernel, my laptop doesn't even have a HDD attached (one
problem that came up) I find it strange that my PC and laptop are both
having the same problem, as far as I can tell the only similarity
between the systems is that they're both Core2 Duo and both have Intel
Chipsets but if this was the problem, surely I'd be able to find more
posts online asking for help with it.
Has anyone had any experience with Slax? Or knows what might be causing
this? It also hangs (for a much shorter time) on some other parts of the
boot procedure but I can't remember which bits and I think that it
changes each time. It's only really udevtrigger that seems to be the
problem.
Thanks in advance
Nistur
