The old G and GS models (v 1.0 to 2.1) are Linux based... they did
move away from Linux in later iterations but it proved so popular they
reintroduced it with GL and GSL models two years back. The specs vary
slightly but even the lowest spec is more than enough.

I agree, before discussing technical details a more general discussion
is probably needed.
