ok, probably unsupported hardware...
with laptops i find the ibm range is well supported
the new the hardware, the less likly it will have a driver
some hardware is really just broken....and will never have a linux driver.
befire you buy hardware, check it it's compatible.
this makes vendors support linux
and you get better hardware too!

I’m Paul and I’m a Windows user! :P
I’ve been dabbling with Linux for a while now, and have
settled on Ubuntu, however, I’ve been battling with an issue for a good number
of weeks now. The issue is that I can’t seem to get any sound output in
Ubuntu. The type of laptop is an HP Pavilion DV7 2030EA and from what I
read, Ubuntu really doesn’t like the HP range. L
I’ve tried to use ndiswrapper, backports, and had a good
read of the ubuntu forums and can’t seem to get it sorted which is a shame as
if I could get sound output then I’d really have no need to use Windows, or use
it less!!
I’m wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what I can
try next as I’m pretty much at a loss now.
Thanks,
Paul.
