The Abertay Linux society require a new logo.
There are no strict requirements for this, so use your imagination.
A rough guideline would be to incorporate in some way some of these
suggestions:
- Free and Open Source Software (perhaps various logos).
- Linux
- Tux the penguin
You're free to divert from the above points, they're merely suggestions to
get you going.
To learn more about the society and what we're all about, please see below,
it may help you get some ideas for the logo.
deadline for both 15th of April.
Prize: 4 tickets, 2 for each competition - take a friend along :)
The tickets entitle you to a Helicopter ride around Perth City, St Andrew,
and over the Tay bridge with Lothian Helicopters.
About The Linux Society - thelinuxsociety.org.uk The Abertay Linux Society
was started to fill the void of regular meetings for Linux users in Dundee.
It's membership is split between students and non-students, and everyone is
welcome to join, regardless of university attendance. Our ties with the
Tayside LUG (Linux User Group) are very strong indeed and most of our
members are members of TayLUG as well.
You don't have to have any Linux experience at all to come to one of our
Bi-weekly meetings and you will find plenty of people who enjoy helping
people understand how Linux works.
Our meetings normally consist of an informal presentation on numbers of
subjects relating F.L.O.S.S (Free, Libre, Open-Source, Software), computer
Security and current events happening in the software world.
The society promotes the use of non proprietary software as a core
replacement, with a friendly and relaxed approach and with a variety of
experience a good discussion is normally always expected.
Our meetings are held every other Thursday at 7pm, and we are reasonably
easy to find, just meet us outside the foyer of Abertay's Kydd building, on
Bell street.
*TayLUG - dundeelug.org.uk*
Dundee & Tayside Linux Users Group (TayLUG). Our group comprises of Linux,
Unix and other general computer users who are interested in FOSS (Free and
Open Source Software). Many subjects are discussed at our meetings and on
our mailing list regarding FOSS and other IT related issues.
Software Freedom Day - softwarefreedomday.org Software Freedom Day (SFD) is
a worldwide celebration of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS). Our goal in
this celebration is to educate the worldwide public about of the benefits of
using high quality FOSS in education, in government, at home, and in
business -- in short, everywhere! The non-profit company *Software Freedom
International** * coordinates SFD at a global level, providing support,
giveaways and a point of collaboration, but volunteer teams around the world
organize the local SFD events to impact their own communities. *
