Already got in there early! I don't have much time for games now but
I'm keen to try this. Someone bought me Half-Life 2 and the expansions
years ago but I've never been able to get them running well enough to
seriously consider playing them. When I still ran the Catalyst drivers,
they were far too buggy. One particularly memorable defect was that
everything in Portal was rendered upside-down! I now use the open
Radeon drivers but the performance is still lacking. I gather Catalyst
is a bit more reliable now but there's no way I'm going back to that
crap. I'm not sure how well the native port will run on the open Radeon
drivers. Better than under Wine at least, one would hope. It reportedly
runs well under Intel's drivers thanks to some on-site collaboration
with Valve. Sadly the Radeon developers didn't do the same. I'm not
sure why.
