It isn't just this list that you'll get attitude from if you top
post ;) Lists of a technical nature are often demanding technically...

Oh, it may look fine. That's not the problem. The problem is where your
post showed up.
As it was a completely new post it should have shown up in its own
thread and not in the middle of some other thread.
This happened because you replied to the message with a message id of
<CAJBULYCSL8YEhPFaqRY9EGyev+Jf9gg86nCqrZJKMDaRLMFp+g at mail.gmail.com>
which was a message from Grant Richmond <grant at terminalpixel.co.uk> in
the 'Edinburgh Hacklab Trip' thread.
That is how email threading generally works. By setting a SMTP header
called In-Reply-To with the relevant message id, so in your case your
email contained the following header
'In-Reply-To:
<CAJBULYCSL8YEhPFaqRY9EGyev+Jf9gg86nCqrZJKMDaRLMFp+g at mail.gmail.com>'
Which mail clients use to do the message threading.
Hopefully that's somewhat clear.
Oh and what graphics card did you go for?
