I wrote some small perl scripts for CD playing which runs
cdparanoia to reliably download the data from the cd. It waits two
seconds and then starts xmms to start playing the downloaded data.
It runs lame to encode the tracks and cddb to rename and tag the mp3 files.
When all the tracks have been downloaded, it ejects the disc.

So the next time you want to play the CD, you can just play the mp3 files
instead.
