Hello everyone, just thought I'd say Hello and introduce myself.
I'm Dougie Nisbet, just moved up from Lytham St Annes. I've been on this
list for a while but haven't been able to get along to any of the meets
as it's taken us all year to sell in St Annes and get moved in up here.
I'm 42, married, and haven't worked for over 4 years. Started of my
career with and HND in physics, then moved on to work in computing. Had
several jobs and in 1998 started contracting. My backround is mostly
HP-UX, AIX, and Solaris, but in the last few years I've been using Linux
a lot at home. I've tinkered with Slackware, then Red Hat, Suse,
Mandrake but for the last few years I've been on Debian and unlikely to
change distros now. My linux server is a home-built dual processor PIII
machine that acts as a mail server and virus/spam filter. I have an Axis
2100 network camera and I use that with 'motion'
(http://www.lavrsen.dk/twiki/bin/view/Motion/WebHome) and album
(http://marginalhacks.com/Hacks/album/) to keep tabs and whatever I've
got the camera pointed at. This can be anything from the garden to the
cat flap to the mouse traps (don't ask) to the back door. My current
'project' is to have another go at 'qcad' and see if I can use it to
help me map out the plumbing and wiring in the house.
I hope to get along on tuesday and say hello.
Dougie
