In this particular case, the answer is 'not very'. But I'm interested in 
running with the clone/copy idea and using this machine a little like a 
test bed so that if it happens again in future I have some idea about 
how to go about things. I could certainly just do a re-install but I'm 
going to run with the clone idea so that I'm familiar with the process 
and options if and when a similar situation arises in future.
