I think under /sbin there may be a script called knx-hdinstall or
some such. Run that. The Knoppix install then takes the hardware
defaults it has already worked out - and works from there.
Be aware - the CD is compressed. There is something like 2.8GB on
there. Knoppix uses one partition by default, so if you want something
more advanced you may need to check what you are doing carefully.
If you plan to dual boot with Windows - defragment your Windows drive
first using whatever tools you have. Back up any data from your Windows
partition just in case.
Knoppix is the easiest way to install a current-ish Debian system. Two
or three changes to a couple of config files and an update later and
you're running "pure" Debian :)
At Linux-Tag in Germany, they've just been putting out a Knoppix DVD -
if it was 4.7GB of compressed data there must have been a hell of a
lot of it :)
