At last night's meeting, a query arose about the availability of fonts
under Linux -- in particular, fonts for writing in Bangla.

The first place to look when seeking information of this sort, specific
to Linux, is, of course, among the HOWTOs.

     http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Indic-Fonts-HOWTO/

which turns out to be quite useful, and gives information on how to
install the IndiX software, allowing X to display Indic fonts. Neat.

Then there is a whole website dedicated to Bengali under Linux:

     http://www.bengalinux.org

as well as a generic website, http://www.indlinux.org/

*The* Linux specialist in this area is Jaldhar Vyas (see his website at:
http://www.braincells.com/ ); or write to him direct from the address
given there.

Hope that's what you need, Antony.
