If you need a very old AT keyboard (the one with the big round DIN plug
rather than the little round plug) or a serial mouse - best bring those.

If you don't bring your own monitor, try and find out what the maximum
resolution it will do is - that way the powers that be can send you
home with a machine ready set up for 1024x768/800x600/640x480 for
example. If you've a very old monitor, its probably best not to push it
too hard.

If you've got a network card ready installed in your machine - find out
what type it is. Ditto soundcard if you can.

If you know how much memory there is in your machine and on your video
card - note it down. If the machine boot up sequence tells you
what processor is in there - note it down. How big's the disk / do
you need to dual boot ?? Stick it all on a postit / sticky label
on the machine together with your name.

Somebody please buy / bring a brand new box of 1.44 formatted floppies
for boot floppies - "recycled" disks are always a pain :)

All this from bitter personal experience :)

dpkg -i kernel-image-2.4.22*i686*.deb :)

rpm -U ????.rpm

Martin - if you can find the checklist you had a while ago? - there
is also a Linux installation howto somewhere.

All the best - sorry I won't be there.
