USB is cheaper to produce than parralel
its a bit slower
cheaper to have over long distances
more prone to software niggles
Cheap printers like the 42+ are basically disposable cartridge holders
subsidised by cartridge sales
a lot of people buy a new printer rather than buying a new set of
cartridges.
epson cartridges have very highly developed inks that are shot out in a
weird double tap method, also they contain chemicals to clean the heads
the printers can get easily damaged by using cheap 3rd party inks, ive
seen dozens of epson printers be consigned to the skip as the print
heads have completely gone
on a side note, the epson printer techies in india use sanitary towels
as waste ink pads as its cheaper!
