I think you will find Star Office 8 beta very similar to OO V2, when
it becomes less buggy.
I haven't found the shortcomings that you speak of, but understand
that once you have invested time in one product, it is quite a wrench
to throw that effort away. (You are using the sum symbol in OO I
presume.)
It just goes to show, that we all have our favourite apps.
