[Gllug] Are i386 & i586 rpm's interchangeable?

Yes you're right, though most use space code doesn't have CPU specific
assembler in it.

The kernel on the other hand is another matter, either mandrake did something
like shipping a generally compatible (for cyrix and so on) or you've built
your own with the right cpu type.
