Evolution has advanced on from Outlook a great deal, IMO. The API for
writing bonobo clients is OSS, and we're already seeing clients for
things like livejournal (www.livejournal.com) integrated into Evolution.
It can parse RSS for a news feed, take different frontends.. it's really
looking excellent. It also does threading, which is something Outlook
seems to have not bothered with so far.

That said, the reason they don't 'think up an original interface' is
that it's *designed* to be an Outlook clone for linux, and to have
people who are migrating from Windows sit down at it and read/write
mail. That's mostly Ximian's business plan.
