File system corruption is not the same though - I wasn't referring to
kernel induced problems...and anyway, how many *production*
distributions with dangerous kernels do you know of causing any
corruption recently?

If you were to stick to purely "production" kernels you probably
wouldn't have these problems. The only filesystem corruption I have
suffered in recent memory is due to loopback device stuff - which most
novice users would not know anything about to start with.

Personally? I would not switch due to licensing, but that's me.
