have you verified it will actually work with Linux?
e.g. at http://www.linmodems.org/
it's not always obvious from the brand name or model name what the
internal chips are.

I got an internal modem recently after my old one died, well known
manufacturer, only to find out it was actually a winmodem unsupported by
Linux :(
(I needed one quickly so didn't have time to check it out, also no
immediate internet access)
Luckily I was able to swap it with a Windows user for a real modem :)
