Just one word: CRAP!

We've got the BT ADSL 500+ Business here running on Debian 2.5.1
and hotplug crashes every-now-and-then :(

Usually once a day, maybe three days without but certainly more often
than one would like.

It wasn't really much better before and we are looking for some
way to make stay up longer (maybe Vigara can help).

As soon as I can get hold of cheap yet decent DSL modem I'll let you
know (looks like there are quite a few ppl who have the same problems).
