If I recollect correctly, when fdisking a disc manually the primary linux
and extended linux partitions are defined as a different partition-type number
to that used by DOS. Presumably if they were defined as the same partition
type as DOS, Windows would try and assign them (and fail?) a Drive Letter.

So, if this is so, the extended/logical partition scheme for Linux may look
the same as that used for DOS and be similar in construction, but not actually
be the same !

I still prefer the 'divvy' method used by SCO, as under that scheme you can
have 4 partitions with 6 or 7 'divvied' file-systems on each giving
24-28 file systems in total.
