NO - DO NOT USE THE ALCATEL DRIVER!
http://benoit.papillault.free.fr/speedtouch/index.en.html is where the
driver you want lives. It's GPLed, and doesn't require any patching, and it
is (at least) an order of magnitude more stable than the Alcatel driver, in
my experience and the experience of others.
I'll happily talk you through setting it up - just don't use the Alcatel
driver.
