I used to used KDE, then i tried (ximian/helix) gnome and i havent went
back.  Gnome has a nice feel to it, and i generally just prefer it to KDE.
My advice: Try it see if you like it and then delete the one you dont want.
(Or use gdm and select the one you want at login.)
