IIRC, pkgadd is based upon cpio.
well, put it like this, any packaging system, is gonna be based upon a
common archiving format, so on unix, thats either tar, or cpio, or ar if
you really want simplicity.  cant remember what aches and phux use, but
it's probably an ammalgamation of those utils.
