You can include the following the head section of your page:

<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="XX">

XX is in the form [num_seconds];URL

I use it on a webpage that reloads itself every 5 minutes (300 seconds), thereby displaying pseudo-realtime information on certain key systems it monitors. If you set the seconds to 0, it will immediately load the page referred to by URL (so don't point it to itself!).

It's not the PHP way, and I'm not sure how backward compatible it is, but it is standard html and certainly works in IE4+, Netscape 4+ and Opera 5+.
