[Gllug] EU says 'oui' to spam

pah- just read this non-sense in the Register:

The EU introduced a new regulation that makes you
register yourself if you DO NOT want to receive 
unsolicited commercial email!

"Let the gates of Hell open and fill my mailboxes
with a never ending and now 'government' approved
flood...!"

I am really pissed off with people sending me spam
and this is just one heck of a good reason not to
use any email at all (um- ok, maybe a small address
hidden away somewhere for GLLUG:)

...wondering what (if anything) we can do about it?
