Hi all
I downloaded the Mandrake disc yesterday and burnt it onto a CD. When I took
it home to give it a go it would boot but came up with the message "This is
not a mandrake CD please replace CD and try again" or words to that effect.
It also gave me the option to try and install from hard disk as well. What
have I done wrong here as I am tempted to get the red hat CD's downloaded
and burnt today. One consolation though is that I managed to upgrade from a
2.2 kernel to 2.4.9 with no trouble and for me that is a miracle. As much as
I am tempted to ask I am not going to ask why most people seem to be using
red hat or at least that is the impression I got after yesterday. It would
be interesting to know though what everyone is running and what versions
purely for academic purposes. In fact I will volunteer to collate a list if
people would like to email me off list and I will post the results with
names unless there are objections. I know its a pointless operation but so
are a lot of things and I would hate to do everything in my life from
necessity only.
Regards;
Harry Jackson.
