Or until you start charging your mate for the service -
ie. offering a commercial service over the 2.4Ghz band.
 AFAIK

Also AFAIK, that is what is holding back the implementation of access 
networks
on Starbucks coffee shops and airport lounges, as I think is becoming 
widespread
in the USA.
