[Gllug] Problems with Apache + PHP + GD

'locate' is your friend here

Also, the way I've done things in the past when building apache/php
(sorry - not gd) is to put the sources under /usr/local/src
and not just your home directory.
Just really an organisational thing - but it does seem to help
to unentangle things.
