I have a voodoo banshee which is OK but the drivers are a little hacky, the
card does fullscreen rendering only so I think they render to an off screen
buffer and copy the graphics into a window for windowed 3d.  It's still
quite quick and any games I've tried I put in fullscreen for better
performance.

Anyway, my point is that appart from the hacky hardware on my card the later
3dfx's are very well supported I gather.  3dfx seemed to be quite good
towards linux peeps.
