Hi folks:

I'm trying to install Debian[1] on a machine which has a CD-R
drive connected by SCSI to an Advansys ABP940U controller, and having
no luck at all. It boots fine off the CD, but I can't mount the
CD in order to begin the kernel installation.

I'm using the "compact" kernel, which is reporting:

scsi: <fdomain> Detection failed (no card)
DC390: 0 adapters found
scsi : 0 hosts.
scsi : detected total.

The card is there (and worked previously under Linux) and shows up
in /proc/pci.

Has anyone any ideas how to proceed (short of finding an IDE
CD-ROM drive from somewhere :-)

Rich.

[1] It's a testing snapshot from 1st July 2002 - in other words,
"almost" woody.
