[Gllug] OT Firewire/Fast Networking

IP over Firewire?  That sounds like the kind of thing I'm looking for. 
Does this mean you can do Firewire networking, whereby I can have a rack
of firewire drives being shared by all the machines, which are in turn
networked using firewire leads?
