Well you did ask on the Gllug mailing list. Setting up a caching
nameserver should not be difficult for a Linux enthusiast. Some distros
e.g. Red Hat will even do it for you. I don't get the bit about DSL
users. Does use of DSL in some way make you computer illiterate? I have
cable:)

In practice of course if they havn't restricted recursive queries to
their own customers they are extremely unlikely to notice let alone take
any action. It surprises me how many ISPs allow external access to their
servers. It is very easy to prevent.

Using two servers on the same subnet isn't too good an idea. A single
network failure can take them both out (this was one of the factors in
the notorious microsoft.com failure a while back).
