My political consciousness was awoke by issues surrounding the RIP bill (now an act of parliament- passed by 8 MPs).

With my new political consciousness, I became aware of the activities of Microsoft. Particularly the un-democrotic way political favours (are/ were) sought. As i believe in Democracy and believe those elected should represent the interests of the electorate as a whole and not corporate special interests (which conflict with the interests of society) I decided I cannot support corporations which cross the democratic line. Microsoft, Exxon and several others cross this line. Using, offering support for, and programming Microsoft products are practical ways of supporting Microsoft.

Using, programming, learning about and providing support for Gnu/Linux are methods of supporting a clearly practical alternative social structure- one which promotes the distribution of wealth, knowledge and freedom.

Regards

Nick.
