[Gllug] MySQL 3.23.41 on RH7.2 - 2nd attempt

I tried this with no luck.

I ran the mysql_install_db file then did the safe_mysqld file with no
luck. Then grepped for the process without finding any.

I have the /var/lib/mysql directory too. All the files that my 6.2 box
has are present on the 7.2 box - except for new databases on the 6.2
box.

First things first: you need to start the mysqld before you can
connect and change the password (which is a bit of a gotcha for
newbies) Also, until you have set a password, you can connect withot
using the "-p" parameter, so your first "Can't connect" error is to
be expected.

Before you try and connect do a

ps auxw | grep mysqld

and check that there's something actually running. You might also want
to check that there's a "/var/lib/mysql/" directory too.
