[Gllug] MySQL 3.23.41 on RH7.2 - 2nd attempt

I have the mysql.sock file

I am not at the computer right now so cannot verify permissions but I
started as myself then when things didn't work tried as root.

The /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock sounds like the clue here.  What are your
permissions for /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock?  Does it even exist?
