[Gllug] cdrecord and atip/writing speed problems

Does anybody know if it's possible to persaude cdrecord to ignore the ATIP
region on a blank disc since I've got a 16x10x40x speed CD rewriter in my
machine and every time I want to go and burn a CD it takes forever as the
ATIP information returned from the blank CD-R is "indicated writing speed:
4". This happens on every single ruddy CD-R. I've tried specifying on
the command line that the drive should use speed=16, but the ATIP info
always seems to take priority. The CD-Rs themselves indicate that it's
compatible with writers up to 16x writing speed, so there shouldn't be a
problem with that.

The CD-Rewriter itself is an IDE device with SCSI CD-ROM and SCSI
emulation compiled into the kernel.
