...Good Morning Vietnam =;-)
Just stumbled across this possible piece of legislation.
Here are some outtakes:
<snip>
Provisions in the UK's Export Control Bill could land cryptographic
researchers in jail.
---
Anderson said the bill, which extends export controls on armaments from
physical goods to intangibles such as software, is so "widely drawn" that
it would "give ministers the power to review and suppress any scientific
papers prior to publication".
--
These "startling new powers of censorship" are far more strict than US
regulations - certainly they would prevent any future British Phil
Zimmermann - and affect more than just cryptography, but development work
in high tech companies across the UK.
</snip>
Right. If it's still in bill-form (no jokes please:) one would be able
to stop it! I have faint and distant memories about the "CJA" which
before it grew up was known as the "CJB" but ppl failed to notice it's
potential... (Criminal Justice Act/Bill that is).
PS I hate miserable and grey Mondays.
PPS In fact I hate most Mondays.
PPPS ...unless they are accompanied by sunshine and coffee on tab.
Cheers,
Axel
