Maybe it's an Aussie thing then (hence the entry in the Macquarie Dict)
cause you get looked at funny if you say "kash" over there.  And I have a
friend who pronounces it "kashay" just to piss me off.  "wah-rez" I've heard
more frequently in the last year or so, and from people who play the game,
so theoretically they should know.
