I may be wrong but Ithink it may be even easier with samba.

1. join linux box to network with a relevant user on the domain
2. set up mount points
3. set up shares in fstab quoting uid/password pairs

At least in my experience the old p[roblem with dropping shares has been
greatly reduced since 2.2
