There is. It's called 'xmps'. I haven't used it for a long time - I normally
use Xine or Aviplay, but I've got an old copy on my website that worked for
me, if you want to give it a go. Look at

What was the problem compiling/installing anyway? (You do realise that you
need some Windows DLLs for playing to occur, although that shouldn't really
matter when installing or compiling)
BTW, for anyone in the know: Since I upgraded aviplay to 0.60 (can't remember
what from), some DivXes refuse to play, and bomb out X completely (killed
with SIG-11). Xine works fine on these. Does anyone know why? (I personally
prefer Aviplay because a) the UI of Xine sucks, and b) Aviplay can change
audio/video sync, and I don't think Xine can do it).
