Most of the people you are criticising contribute a lot to this list.
Yes, it would have helped if the subject line had been changed earlier
to make it easier to ignore.  OTOH, the main reason this list is
successful is because it has a community behind/around it.  And we chat,
sometimes.

It *is* a successful list, I should emphasise.  Over the time I've been
on it the level of expertise that it can call on has grown impressively,
in part because the people on it have learned from eachother.  That has
involved a certain amount of off-topic meandering.

Looking back at the thread in question I can see the names of people who
have done talks for GLLUG, people who have helped organise GLLUG events
and people who have asked or answered many pertinent questions.  Oh, and
one annoying prick but then it takes all sorts.  All in all, I think you
get a lot for your time.
