Oh, are there??  I usually just swear at it, pull out the connectors, push 
them back in and re-seat the host adapter.    I would have thought that 
goat's blood would cause unacceptable corrosion to the host adapter 
circuitry.  Or do you scan in the freshly-cut throat of the goat these days?

I assume that doing this via a USB scanner or camera will __NOT__ work?
