I'd dispute that.. config files are one of the most useful places to use
XML.. firstly it saves having to write your own parser, and secondly it
saves other people trying to copy your parser for writing graphical (or
otherwise) configuration tools. If more software used XML for
configuration maybe we'd have less instances where people write
configuration tools that treat config files as "write only media"; storing
their settings in an external file or database and then just blindly
clobbering any settings entered into the config file directly.
