Yes and all of my servers are configured for serial console as well 
however that doesn't address the issue of the BIOS requirement that there 
be a recognised output device in order to boot.

I have also experienced problems with serial consoles that have meant 
needing to drop back to keyboard/monitor however those were two very 
strange ones.
