[Gllug] Workshop at the next GLLUG meeting - Rough outline for mail retrieval

Perhaps this would be a suitable series of talks?

1. Mail fundamentals
	Brief outline of mail and dns etc, smtp, pop and imap, how they 	relate
to each other and roughly how they work.
2. Mail Retrieval
	Retrieving mail from your isp using fetchmail and other mail retrieval
tools.
3. Filtering your mail
	Reasoning for using the likes of procmail instead of your MUA
4. Delivering your mail to local users
	Now that your mail is filtered and ready to be delivered, how do 	you
get it into your users mailboxes? Covers setting up SMTP 	server, (and
briefly local delivery using mailspools instead of smtp) 	smtp
terminology such as relays etc. Configuring your own domain, mx 	records
(briefly) 
5. Getting your mail from your local machine:
	pop vs imap, mail 	security, local mail folders, 	mail-dir/mbox pros
and cons
6. Reading your mail. 
	Discussion of the different mail clients and pros and cons, 	setting
them up etc, rough guide to features of 	mutt/evolution/pine/mail
squirrellmail etc.
7. Sending mail:
	routing external mail externally, securing your outgoing smtp 	server,
local smtp vs isp's own smtp server

8. Summery of mail terms, and recommended reading etc.

  Reviews of SMTP/POP/IMAP servers
  100 reasons why <insert MUA of choice> is better than <Alternative>

Workshops

  setting up procmail
  configuring gpg sig's
  Setting up fetchmail etc.
